RANTOUL – John A. Rusk, 80, of Rantoul passed away after a short illness in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Urbana, a son of Francis and Hazel (Pontious) Rusk. He married Peggy Miller on Jan. 1, 1994, in Paxton. She survives.
Also surviving two daughters, Julie (Doug) Higgins of Paxton and Tammy (Jon) Apland of Paxton; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Sampson of Champaign, Paul (Jessica) Higgins of Champaign, Tiffany Apland of Paxton and Tyler Apland of Paxton; two great-grandchildren, Reid Higgins and Sawyer Sampson; a nephew, Dean Engelbrecht of Bloomington; two nieces, Judy Engelbrecht of Fairbury and Peggy Lambert of McGregor, Texas; and several great-nephews and a great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
John graduated from Rantoul Township High School. He farmed his entire life in Rantoul.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul. Pastor Milton Cruz will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lux Memorial Chapel.
