PAXTON – Graveside services for Mildred Helen Stone, 91, of Paxton will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Maplewood Cemetery in Rantoul. David Horn and Errol Stone will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the services. Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stone died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2012) at Gibson Community Hospital in Gibson City.

She was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Rantoul, the daughter of Earl R. and Mildred Helen Roughton Harris. She married Charles R. Stone on June 24, 1946, at Los Angeles Temple of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She remarried Charles on Jan. 19, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Errol C. (Carol) Stone of Farmer City and Kevin R. (Teresa) Stone of Paxton; three daughters, Paula C. Brown of Urbana, Shirley (Gene) Etheridge of Homer and Sylvia (Ralph Jr.) Deerwester of El Paso, Ill.; one sister, Julie (Roscoe) Specht of Rantoul; two brothers, John (Judy) Harris of Blossom, Texas, and Joe (Sonia) Harris of Rantoul; 13 grandchildren, among them being Jason (Felicia) Stone of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shannon (Rick) Adkins of Paxton, Donald (Desiree) Cleary of Loda, Sarah (Blake) Wells of Muncie, Brandon (Leslie) Stone, James (Lindsey) Stone of Paxton and Rachel (Dustin) Steele of Paxton; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Her parents, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stone worked as a bookkeeper for many years while raising her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy.

She was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Rantoul.
