URBANA – John O'Shea of Urbana went to his eternal rest Saturday (Dec. 22, 2012).
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign, and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 28, also at the funeral home.
John was born Feb. 8, 1929, to Danniel and Lillian (Bracken) O'Shea of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Alice (Mason) O'Shea; his parents, Danniel and Lillian O'Shea; sister, Maureen (O'Shea) Sullivan; and three brothers, Patrick, Donal and Thomas O'Shea.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Lee (Wendy) O'Shea of Colorado; daughter, Tammy (Shawn) Groos of Oakwood; one brother, Michael (Kathleen) O'Shea of Ireland; brother-in-law, Brendan Sullivan; sister-in-law, Helen Kennedy; loving grandchildren, Steven Ritter, Sean (Aubrey) Ritter, Angelina Ritter, Johnathan O'Shea and Dylan O'Shea; and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.
He retired from truck driving after more than 30 years in the Teamster Union. He was an avid sports fan and former Irish football player. He enjoyed Irish music with his accordion and bagpipes, along with having Gaelic conversations. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all.
