Bobby was born July 31, 1949, in Jackson, Miss., to Henry Lee Smith and Nettie Davis-Smith. Later in life Bobby moved to Champaign, were he worked for many years at the Champaign Country Club.
Although Bobby never was married, Bobby shared a special relationship with Elizabeth Cobb, in which they had many fond memories together.
Bobby loved his family, especially his Aunt Maggie and Uncle Albert, who raised him. Bobby was a quiet man, who had little patience for drama. Bobby liked quiet sports like fishing. Bobby was very well-liked and never met a stranger. His daughter Earlene said, "I can see daddy now, with his head tilted to the side."
Bobby leaves to mourn, son Michel Hughes; daughters, Earlene Smith and Darlene Watkins; brother, Lerone Smith; and sisters, Linda Dunn and Helen Rounds.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, father and his Uncle Albert.
Bobby will be sorely missed by many family and friends. Williams Memorial Services would like to send our most heartfelt sympathies to our beloved employee, Earlene Smith, in the loss of her dad. Always remembering Earth has no sorrows that Heaven cannot heal. Rest in Peace, Rise in Glory, Mr. Bobby Earl Smith.
