OGDEN – Dorothy M. Cox passed away at 2:15 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2012) at the Champaign County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, with the Rev. Kathy Murphy officating. Burial will be in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday before the service.
Dorothy was born the daughter of Vinnie and Mamie Sloan Kinnaird on Sept. 25, 1924, at Hickory Flat, Ky. She grew up on a farm and attended schools in Franklin, Ky.
Dorothy married Kaye R. Harlan on March 6, 1943; he preceded her in death. She was employed for 30 years at the University of Illinois, where she met her husband of 46 years, Willard R. Cox, who survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Donnie K.(Tina) Harlan of Estero, Fla., and Bobbie C. Harlan of Ogden; and one daughter, Sandra (Randall) Osterbur of Urbana; five granddaughters, Deanna Burgess of Urbana, Melinda (Chris) Shafer of Troy, Valerie No of St. Louis, Mo., Kimberly (Mike, deceased) Walden and Kelly (Eric) Kuchefski, both of Urbana; and five great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Blackjack Baptist Church near Franklin, Ky.
Dorothy will be missed by her family and the many friends she made through life. She enjoyed raising flowers and watching nature.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, both of her brothers and one great-grandchild.
