MAHOMET – Dorothy Irene Fender, 94, died at home Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2012).
Visitation will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. with Pastor Tony Crouch officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Dorothy was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Shelbyville, a daughter of Jesse and Josephine (Peifer) Moody. She married Charles Fender on Sept. 28, 1939, in St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in February 2008; one daughter, Donna Carpenter, in July 2008; three sisters and three brothers.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sandi Snider of Mahomet and Barbara (Bud) Irle of Bakersfield, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Ross of Farmer City.
Dorothy worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown for 17 years as a seamstress. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family
and playing cards.
