KENOSHA, Wis. – Robert E. Wingard 83, formerly of Champaign, passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday (Dec. 21, 2012) in Kenosha, Wis. He was the son of the late Harry and Frances Wingard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; sister, JoAnn Curtis; his children, Tobin (Janet), Mark (Kay), Kristan Mulgrew, Margaret (Cliff) Pontillo, Shana (Doug) Zink and
Andy; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He served in the Army in the Korean War as a chaplain's assistant.
Robert was a musical composer, had an avid interest in model
railroading and was a strong Illini sports fan. He loved fishing; we always said when we went on vacation that he stepped out of the car and cast his pole at the same time. I am sure as he left this world that he was casting and going for that big muskie.
At his request, there will be no funeral. Family and close friends will have a gathering at a later date.
