RANTOUL – Stayce H. Rhoden, 79, of Rantoul passed away on Christmas evening surrounded by family at Country Health Care and Rehab, Gifford.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. The Rev. Ken Crawford will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
Stayce was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Swansea, S.C., a son of Thomas and Stacy (Hawkins) Rhoden. He married Jacqulyn Pearl Branham in 1955. She preceded him in death in 1967. He later married Pauline Shannon on Aug. 30, 1968, in Camden, S.C. She survives.
Also surviving are five children, Barry Dean (Charlene) Rhoden of Mahomet, Stanley Wade (Grace) Hornsby of Rantoul, William Thomas Hornsby Jr. of West Virginia, Michael Earnest (Diane) Hornsby of Belvidere and Nancy Ann (John) Klepper of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Stayce retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He worked for numerous years at Britt Airlines as an airplane mechanic. He loved to grill out and spend time with his friends.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
