KENOSHA, Wis. – Ronald Lee Montgomery, 72, of Kenosha, Wis., died at his residence Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.
Born Aug. 19, 1940, in Champaign, he was the son of the late William and Bessie "Bette" (Hyatt) Montgomery.
On June 6, 1999, in Sedona, Ariz., he was united in marriage to Lynn (Miksa) Van Diepen.
Ron was a commercial airline pilot for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was employed with Ozark Airlines, TWA and retired from American Airlines. Earlier in his career, many lasting memories were made when he flew charters for Hugh Hefner and his Playboys. Ron was thrilled to have met Jacqueline Kennedy, and numerous celebrities along the way.
He was a member of the AOPA-Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Ron had a passion for flying and enjoyed boating and scuba diving. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lynn Montgomery, of Naples, Fla.; his four daughters, Bridgette Muse of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Shayne Montgomery of Lake Geneva, Wis., Kelley (Bryan Pertler) Rehberg of Salem, Wis., and Brooke Montgomery of Kenosha, Wis.; his seven grandchildren, Megan, Matt, Eric, Trisha, Wyatt, Tyler and Quintin; two step-granchildren, Maggy and Mallory Pertler; and three great-grandchildren.
Ron is further survived by his former wives, Kathleen Boaz of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Deborah Gonsalves of Kenosha, Wis.; and numerous other relatives and close friends.
A memorial service in celebration of Ron's life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha, Wis. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
