RANTOUL – John Joseph Sabol, 92, of Rantoul passed away on Thursday evening (Jan. 3, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Thomasboro. Father Steven Bird will officiate. Burial will follow in Partlow Cemetery, Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.
John was born June 16, 1920, in Edwardsville, Pa., a son of John and Ann (Bitzo) Sabol.
He is survived by three daughters, Joan (Brad) Becklund of Deer River, Minn., Mary Ring of Scottville, Mich., Clare Margaret (Bill) Johns of Villa Park; his beloved Lady Ann; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, two wives, a daughter, Judith, and a son, Joseph.
John served in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. He then worked 30 years in Civil Service, retiring from Chanute Air Force Base as a missile instructor. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He served as commander of the local AMVETS.
He was a loving father and the stronghold of the family, he was dedicated to family and his faith. He will be greatly missed.
