GIBSON CITY – Milo Hansen, 85, of Gibson City died at 4 p.m. Friday (Jan. 4, 2013) at the Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Gibson City United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Tennyson officiating. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City.
Milo was born May 27, 1927, in Gilmore City, Iowa, a son of Clarence and Susanna (Powers) Hansen.
He is survived by a daughter, Mollie (Freddie Hazard) Hansen of Troy, Ohio; a son, Michael Hansen of Bloomington; and his granddaughter, Violet Hazard of Troy, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle; a brother, John; a sister, Amelia Sheppleman; and his parents.
Milo graduated from Drummer Township High School. He attended Valparaiso University, where he did his undergraduate studies and also played basketball.
He then attended Western Illinois University and received his master's degree in education and administration.
He was an educator in Maquon, Ill., and also the Valley High School District.
He was a 50-year member of the Gibson City Masonic Lodge 773 AF & AM. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, loved living on his farm and especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Gibson Area Hospital or to the Gibson City United Methodist Church.
