ATWOOD – Keith A. Mewes, 49, of Atwood passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013) at his residence.
Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East U.S. Highway 36, Atwood, with Pastor Darrell Seest officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood.
Keith was born June 15, 1963, in Tuscola, the son of Virgil A. and Judith K. Williamson Mewes.
Survivors include his mother of St. Joseph; niece, Caitlin Schwass and nephew, Christopher Schwass, both of Atwood; brother-in-law and sister-in law, Allen and Mareva Schwass of Atwood; and the love of his life, Becky Miller.
He was preceded in death by his father; sisters, Janet Ann Mewes and Karen Ann Mewes Schwass; maternal grandparents, Walter and Madge Williamson; and paternal grandparents, Lester and Wilma Mewes.
Keith worked as a resource and policy analyst at the University of Illinois Materials Research Laboratory. He graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
He was a loving son, uncle, brother and friend. The Lord was his rock and foundation and he was always willing to share the love of God and the Scriptures to others to inspire and encourage. His smile and his laugh were precious to those who knew him.
God took him home sooner than we as friends and family wanted, but God's timing is not our timing. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Keith was one of God's saints. We who are left behind mourn our loss, but he is now with the Lord he loved most of all.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
