PAXTON – Mildred I. "Millie" Schroeder, 84, of Paxton died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with Rev. Terry L. Westerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schroeder was born July 12, 1928, at Normal, the daughter of George M. and Bernice L. Stephens Search. She married Leonard C. Schroeder on May 15, 1949, in Bloomington. He preceded her in death in September 1983.
Survivors include one son, Alan (Marjorie) Schroeder of Paxton; two grandchildren, Kaci (Jason) Rust of Buckley and Kaleb Schroeder of Mahomet; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kasen Rust; one sister, Evelyn (Joe) Bussone of Sycamore; one niece; one nephew; and a special friend, Jim Graham of Paxton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger; and a sister, Lucille.
Millie graduated from Bloomington High School in 1945. She had been employed by State Farm Insurance in Bloomington for 11 years, the Chicago Motor Club office in Paxton for 11 years and the city of Paxton for 12 years serving as city clerk from 1985 to 1989. She also worked part time for Paxton Printing and The Picket Fence Florist.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paxton, the United Methodist Women, a 50-year member of Prospect Chapter No. 367 Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1993, 2002 and 2005. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Paxton.
The greatest joy of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made the First United Methodist Church of Paxton or an organization of the donor's choice.
