THOMASBORO – Robert James Ewing, 80, of Thomasboro died on Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Bob was born April 11, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y. After school, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served for 16 years, during the Korean War, achieved the rank of master sergeant and retired in 1968.
On May 12, 1972, he married Brenda Jo Rhoades.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; six children, Leslie (Coby) Prather, Matt (Michelle) Ewing, Mike (Shelly) Ewing, Herb (Linda) Ewing, Jason (Domonique) Ewing and Roy (Misty) Ewing; eight grandchildren; and a very good friend, Ed Lutz, who led him to Christ.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Ewing.
Graveside services and military rites will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the National Cemetery in Danville. Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
