DANVILLE – Michael J. Byrne, 65, of Danville passed away at 7:34 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2013) at home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Danville, the son of Charles Edgar and F. Madelyn Johnson Byrne. He married Patricia Freas Vick on May 28, 2010, in Pekin; she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Joshua (Holly) Byrne of Swansboro, N.C., Brandon (Wendy) Starkey of Danville, Aaron (Natalie) Starkey of Melbourne, Fla., Scott (Amy) Vick of Delavan and Tricia (Scott) Springer of Roanoak; 17 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Mike retired from the Danville Police Department in 2003 after more than 23 years of service. He had also worked as a photographer for the Commercial News and worked at Berkley-Davis. He was a member of the Middlefork Valley Riders and loved riding his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Spring Hill Cemetery Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MDA. Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory in Tilton is assisting the family.
