WELDON – Clifford L. Moore, 87, of Weldon passed away Jan. 15, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, with military honors. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Moore family.
Clifford was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Weldon, the son of Lyle J. and Blanche F. (Walden) Moore. He married Betty June Gladden Nov. 14, 1946, in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife, Betty June Moore of Weldon; son, Randy (Carole) Moore of Mahomet; daughter, Robyn Nash of Godfrey; four grandsons, Scott (Brandy) Moore of Green Valley, Tyler and Dustin Nash of Bethalto and Corbin Cohver of New Orleans, La.; two granddaughters, Ashton Nash of Urbana and Amanda (Patrick) Cohver of Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Austin Moore of Green Valley and Aidan Austin of Chicago; two sisters, Lorene Cole of St. Louis, Mo., and Aileen (Elwyn) King of Wylie, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Ollie Clark and LaVerne Sieveking.
Mr. Moore spent part of his life farming and then became owner of Moore's Hardware in Weldon. He was a businessman providing plumbing, heating and cooling to the community for 53 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 and as mayor of Weldon and a Weldon volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church and the Clinton Elks Club.
