ROBERTS – Dean William Rhinehart, 83, of Roberts died at 9 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2013) at the Gibson Area Hospital Annex in Gibson City.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Living Word Church in Roberts with the Rev. Douglas Lee officiating. Burial will be in Lyman Township Cemetery in Roberts. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Young Funeral Home in Roberts.

Mr. Rhinehart was born July 18, 1929, in Ada, Ark., a son of Oliver T. and Ruth M. Wilson Rhinehart. He married Roberta I. Stroup on May 28, 1948, in Arkansas.

Surviving are a son, Bob (Linda) Rhinehart of Carlsbad, Calif.; a daughter, Marsha (Richard) Longmire of Pinedale, Wyo.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lydia Wilson of North Little Rock, Ark.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger, and a sister.

Dean was a Range Instructor for Pontiac District 6 Illinois State Police, retiring on Dec. 31, 1982. He was a sharpshooter and received many awards.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Masonic Lodge No. 733 AF & AM, and a former member of the Gibson City Moose Lodge.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Illinois State Police Benevolent Fund or the Gibson Area Hospital Annex Activity Fund.
