KNOXVILLE, Ill. – Juanita Doryne Galbreath, 98, of Knoxville, Ill., died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
She was born Oct. 12, 1914, in Coles County, the daughter of John Wilbur and Nora Ellen Whitley Carlyle. She married Gerald "Bill" Eugene Galbreath on Sept. 28, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Ann Galbreath of Knoxville; two sons, Jerry Dean (Toni) Galbreath of Carlsbad, Calif., and Mark Eugene (Lydia) Galbreath of San Antonia, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Sue Galbreath of Winterville, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Cristi, Gabriel, Travis, Eric, Karen, Andy and Bob; and 11 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Danny, Tony, Quintin, Addie, Collin, Levi, Renee, Nicole, Atlee and Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Richard; three brothers, Harry, Dutch and Wayne; and one sister, Marie.
Juanita enjoyed traveling, reading, watching cardinals, lighthouses, doing puzzles, and she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She loved her grandkids and Illinois sports.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home. The Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon.
Memorial donations may be left to the Knox County Nursing Home, Maquon United Methodist Church or Grace Lutheran Church.
