SAVOY – Catherine Ann (Nan) Pritchard of Savoy died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 20, 2013) at Champaign Urbana Regional Rehab, Savoy.
She was the youngest daughter of Mary (Cain) McKeon and Henry McKeon, and was raised in rural Champaign County.
She graduated from Unity High School in Tolono and took her typing skills to the University of Illinois' secretarial pool.
She met and married William A. (Bill) Pritchard in 1957 and the couple made their home in Champaign, then later settled in Savoy, where they raised three children, Jane Guido (Scott), Sue Danielson (Darwin), and Bill.
Catherine and Bill marked 54 years of marriage in 2011, prior to Bill's death.
Catherine was retired from the UI Department of Nuclear Engineering, where she was a departmental secretary. She was deeply honored when former students established a scholarship in her name, to thank her for her assistance and occasional "mothering" when they needed it.
She enjoyed traveling, music and playing the piano. She was a true sports fan and rarely missed an Illini football or basketball game, or Chicago Cubs game.
Catherine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed, but memories of her will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign, with the Rev. Father Robert Rayson officiating. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Philo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy.
Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois Foundation c/o Catherine Pritchard undergraduate scholarship, or to a charity of your choice.
