CHESTERVILLE – AGNES L. VOLTENBURG, 90, of Chesterville passed away at 10:50 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 24, 2013) at the Arthur Home in Arthur.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Edwards Funeral Home. The Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be held in the Chesterville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
Agnes was born August 19, 1922 in Chesterville. She was a daughter of Adam and Bessie (Campbell) Scott. She married Morris Floyd Voltenburg on Dec. 15, 1940, in Arcola. He died on Sept. 3, 1994.
She is survived by one brother, Eugene Shambarger, and his wife, Doris, of Arcola; one sister, Helen Staebler of Miland, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hiram and Orville Scott; and two sisters, one that was stillborn and Gladys Turner.
Agnes was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, where she taught Sunday School to children in the nursery for 25 years. She also participated in the Christian Women's Fellowship at the church and served as president for three years.
She wrote the "Chesterville News" column for the Arcola Record Herald and Arthur Graphic paper for several years.
Agnes was a very special lady who enjoyed taking care of her husband, children and her cats.
