DANVILLE – Robert E. "Butch" Cole, 70, of Danville passed away at 8:14 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 31, 2013) at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Butch was born Oct. 8, 1942, to Olen Louis and Minnie (Gay) Cole in Danville.
Butch is survived by his brother, Gary R. Cole; sisters, Linda L. Pribble, Marion K. (Steve) Chasteen, Gail L. (Bob) Nelson and Vickie J. Pagson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis E. Cole; and nephews, Daren K. West, Chris A. Pribble and Ronald J. Pribble.
A former student of Oakwood High, Butch served his country with honor from 1962 to 1967. After leaving the Army, he went to work for General Motors as a foundry operator until his retirement in 1993. Butch enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time at the American Legion Hall.
Per Butch's wishes, he is to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Rob Caudill officiating and a private family burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 210. A short hour-long visitation will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m.
