VILLA GROVE – Helen L. Crossman, 82, of Villa Grove passed away peacefully Friday morning (Feb. 8, 2013) at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Joines Funeral Home, Route 130 South, Villa Grove. Pastor Duane Piercy of Victory Church in Camargo will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.

Helen was born April 17, 1930, in Villa Grove, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Smith) Smith. She married Leland Crossman on Dec. 2, 1949, at Keokuk, Iowa. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. He survives.

Surviving is a son, Charles (Diann) Crossman of Villa Grove; daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Carso of Camargo; grandchildren, Asa Crossman of Villa Grove and Alexa Crossman of Chicago; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Shirley Smith; brother, Edward Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister (Barbara Durland) and one brother (Charles Smith).

Helen was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She liked to collect recipes, bake, sit on her back porch surrounded by her flowers and watch the hummingbirds. She looked forward to her fall vacations in Wisconsin, fishing with Lee. She was a longtime member of Tri-City Country Club.
