CHAMPAIGN – Lois June Owens Allen, 85, from Champaign went home to be with the Lord at 7 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2013.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Twin City Bible Church, Urbana. The memorial service will follow. Private burial will be at Danville National Cemetery.

Lois was born June 23, 1927, at home in Litchfield, a daughter of Kenneth and Louise Owens. She married Wendell Allen on Sept. 28, 1946, in Mahomet at the home of Rose and Flavel Warner, Wendell's sister.

She attended Twin City Bible Church. Previously she attended Champaign-Urbana Christian Church, Webber Street Church of Christ, and she and her husband were founding members of Westside Church of Christ.

Singing, music and crafts brought much enjoyment to Lois. She was a "homemaker." "The best wife ever," says Wendell, and a dedicated mother.

She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was very busy at church. She hosted numerous bible studies in their home.

She and her family traveled many years to Clearwater Beach, Fla., for beach vacations and in later years she and Wendell vacationed at Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Survivors are her husband of 66 years, Wendell Allen of Mahomet; four children, Kay (Roger) Mahannah of Savoy, Judy (Maurice) Neese of Broken Arrow, Okla., Doug (Carol) Allen of Mahomet and Wendy (Steve) Michels of Champaign. In addition are 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great- grandchild; two sisters, Sue Hill of Dawson and Marge Woodfin of Fairfield, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Twin City Bible Church, Urbana.
