ARCOLA – Helen M. Nisley, 79, of Arcola died Tuesday (Feb. 12, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Middle Cross Cowboy Church, 1061 Yoders Center, Arthur, with the Rev. Jess Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 14) at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust St., Arcola. Burial will be in the Arcola Township Cemetery, Arcola.
Helen was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Arcola, the daughter of Scott and Ethel M. Wingler Deweese. She married Paul Nisley on Nov. 28, 1975, in Arthur. They shared 37 years together. He survives.
Other survivors include her two daughters, Linda (Tim) Cochrane of Savoy and Connie Alexander of Urbana, and Gary Alexander of Villa Grove; grandchildren, Christine Yaden and Ken Sokolowski of Kannapolis, N.C., Andrew (Rachelle) Traxler of Columbus, Wis., Frank (Holly) Alexander of St. Joseph and Rod (Tiffany) Alexander of Okinawa, Japan; stepgrandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Knight of Tuscola and Gary (Kristi) Alexander Jr. of Pawnee; great-grandchildren, Tracy Alexander, Tommy Alexander, Vanessa Alexander, Max Alexander, Matthew Alexander and Ava Alexander; and step-great-grandchildren, James, Josh and Haleigh Knight, Austin, Brayden, Colton and Jillian Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roy Deweese.
She enjoyed riding in her golf cart with family and friends. Helen loved to drive the school bus early in her career and listening to the Gunnysack Band. She also loved working with crafts and hosting parties during the Broomcorn Festival for over 30 years. Helen loved her dogs.
Memorials are suggested to the Middle Cross Cowboy Church.
