Charles Lipscomb Sr.
CHAMPAIGN – Charles Lee Lipscomb Sr., 60, of Champaign died at 2:53 p.m. Monday (Feb. 11, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 808 E. Bradley Ave., C. Pastor Keith Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, is handling arrangements.
Mr. Lipscomb was born April 2, 1952, in Champaign, a son of George Sr. and Dora Lipscomb.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Winonia; three daughters, Winona Nelson of Chicago, ChanDora Johnson of New Jersey and Fatima Nelson of Champaign; five sons, Charles Lipscomb Jr. (Angela) of Delaware and Martel Harris, Keyon Johnson, Martrell Johnson and Charles Johnson, all of Champaign; stepmother, Betty Lipscomb of Champaign; two sisters, Marilyn Lipscomb-Walker and Regina Redmon (Kent) of Champaign; four brothers, George Lipscomb Jr. (Audrey) of Chicago, Sylvester Montgomery of Chicago, Ricky Montgomery of Champaign and Herman Montgomery of Freeport; an uncle, Frank C. Lipscomb (Iola) of Champaign; and 20 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a sister.
Mr. Lipscomb attended Champaign schools. He was also employed by Roadco trucking company in Chicago.
He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling.
