CHAMPAIGN – Lily May Thomas, 84, of Champaign died at 9:09 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 16, 2013) at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana.

Lily was born May 17, 1928, to John Franklin Cooley and Gracie Bell Rawdin Cooley in Fisher.

Survivors include her brother, David Benjamin Cooley; her six children, Mary Ann Gleason, Connie Bank, Janet Lynn Wiegel, LaDonna Funk, Jeffrey Thomas and Shelley Lea Thomas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Owens Funeral Home will conduct a graveside funeral service at 2:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana. There will be no visitation.

She was loved in life and will be missed dearly. God, please hold her close and keep her in your care.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please make a donation to the family.

To David Benjamin Cooley; her six children, Mary Ann Gleason, Connie Bank, Janet Lynn Wiegel, LaDonna Funk, Jeffrey Thomas and Shelley Lea Thomas: My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your mom has a child growing up. I use to see her at The County Market over on Mattis. If I would have known she was in the Champaign County Nursing Home I would have gone and seen her. May God be with your all in your time of sarrow and pain. God be with all of you and confert you. Look to God he will heal the saddness you are feeling. Alway remember the good times you shaired. The good alway out weights the bad.
