CHAMPAIGN – Meldon E. "Bus" Wagner, 88, of Champaign passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2013) at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana. Chaplain Tim Haworth will officiate.
Mr. Wagner was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a son of Harold and Grace (Colvin) Wagner. He married Mildred A. Simmers in 1966 at Danville. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Michael Morgan of Cary, N.C.; two daughters, Joyce Phares of Urbana and Judith Jeffs of Oregon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Merlee.
Mr. Wagner graduated from University High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He owned and operated H&W Machine Shop in Urbana for many years and he was a member of the C-U Elks Lodge 2497 and the American Legion Post 24. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the USGA.
