MAHOMET – Richard G. McCoy, 59, of Mahomet, and formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, and Rantoul, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 17, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
There will be no public services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Richard was born Jan. 12, 1954, in Dubuque, Iowa, a son of Donald F. and Teresa A. (Gerkin) McCoy. He married Wanda Lyons on Aug. 14, 1981, in Champaign. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Angie Reliford of Mackinaw; two sons, David Howell of Champaign and Michael Hunter of Mahomet; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Ron) Kerin of Roseville, Calif., and Sue (Kim) Reiter of Dubuque, Iowa; and a brother, Michael McCoy of Chesapeake Bay, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Richard graduated from Walhert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Iowa, and attended Loras College.
He worked as a supervisor for Caradco Windows and Doors in Rantoul, and most recently worked as a logistics specialist for Advanced Filtration Systems in Champaign. He retired in December 2011.
Richard enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
