MAHOMET – Kenneth C. Baker, 74, of Mahomet died at 2:07 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 23, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Community Free Church, 102 W. Riverbend, Mahomet, with the Rev. Jason Schifo officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Township Cemetery in Mansfield. Military burial rites will be accorded by the Mahomet Legion Post 1015.

Kenneth was born June 13, 1938, in Decatur, a son of Charles and Leta (Smith) Baker Sr. He married Connie Baker. He later married Dorothy (Phillips) Henderson in Mansfield on June 30, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie G. Baker; both parents; and a brother, Donald Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Mahomet; children, Tina (Malachi) Bennett of Atlanta, Ga., Nina (Scot) Westray of Monticello, Sue (John) Fitzgerald of Decatur and Todd (Josie) Baker of Monticello; stepchildren, Thomas Jacobs of Little Rock, Ark., Marsha (John) Prater of Monticello, Jenny Henderson of Rantoul and Matt Henderson of Mahomet; one brother, Charles (Darlene) Baker of Bement; grandchildren, Cale (Erika) Leisner, Josh (Kaylin) Westray, Ayla (Ryan) Meece, Allison, Johnny, Jeffrey and Meredith Fitzgerald, Nino and Rosa Baker, Kody, Jakob, Jack and Kolton Prater, Hayden Henderson, Preston Beckman, Houston Henderson; and one great-grandchild, Noah Leisner.

Kenneth was a farmer in Weldon, earning retirement in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing antiques and frequented both antique stores and flea markets.

Kenneth was a proud veteran, having served in the Navy from 1957 to 1963 as a machinist's mate. Kenneth was a member of the DeLand American Legion Post 102 and the 40/8 Club.

He was also a member of the Community Free Church in Mahomet.
