OAKLAND – Louise M. Allen, 87, of Oakland went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2013) at her home.
She was born June 10, 1925, in Douglas County, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Reed) Jones. She married Ed "Shavey" Allen in Missouri on Sept. 26, 1942. They celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his death in January 2000.
She is survived by three children, Rev. Ron (Barb) Allen of Hammond, La., Dr. Ed (Kathy) Allen of Land o' Lakes, Fla., and Ramona Kuykendall of Oakland; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed "Shavey" Allen; one brother, William "Danny" Jones; one sister, Helen Jones; one infant brother; one daughter-in-law, Sue Allen; one son-in-law, Charles Kuykendall; four sisters-in-law, Cora Long, Mary Corray, Elsie Casebeer and Winnie Woods; one brother-in-law, Ralph Allen; and her mother and father-in-law, Lee and Stella Allen.
Louise was a former member of the Murdock Methodist Church and current longtime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, rural Oakland. Music was a lifelong talent which she shared with others by singing at weddings, funerals, nursing homes and many churches. She devoted her life to sharing God's message to others through her strong faith, her music and her life's witness. Her children were privileged to be raised by such loving, Christian parents. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, but we rejoice that she is now singing in God's Holy Choir.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, rural Oakland. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetary, Oakland.
