HOMER – Hilda Garnet Elliott, 92, of Homer passed away at 4 p.m. Friday (June 28, 2013) at Newman Rehabilitation Center, Newman.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Davis Cemetery, Fairmount, with Pastor C.W. Greer officiating.
Memorials may be made to Homer Fire & Rescue.
Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, is in charge of the arrangements.
Hilda was born May 31, 1921, in Rossville. She was the daughter of Herbert and Laura Leathers Lowe. She married Oakle Wells. He preceded her in death. She married Lester Elliott. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Beulah (Lowell "Dickey") Hedges of Kernersville, N.C.; three grandsons, Douglas Hedges of Weston, Fla., Dwight Hedges of Mechanicsville, Va., and Daniel Hedges of Kernersville, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Bryson Hedges, both of Mechanicsville, Va.; and one sister, Adelia Pearl Burroughs of Johnsonville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Henson of Flora and Dorothy Maurey of Fairfield, and one stepson, Jerome Elliott.
Hilda was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Danville for many years. She then attended the Homer Church of Christ. She was recently attending the Homer New Life Church of Faith.
She was an elementary school cook for the Muncie school district. She also ran a restaurant in Muncie called "The Munchie Lunchie."
