TOLONO – Thomas A. Exton, 51, of Tolono passed away at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday (July 17, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign, with Rev. Bradley Shumaker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono.
Mr. Exton was born Nov. 9, 1961, at Jacksonville, a son of Larry and Faye Hermsmeier Exton. He married Holly Joy Chapman on Oct. 11, 1996, in Champaign; she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sheila (Matt) Albers of St. Joseph; his parents of Pontiac; a sister, Beth (Ron) Pagel of Appleton, Wis.; niece and nephews, Ben, Jake and Rachel Pagel; aunt and uncle, Art and Bea Hermsmeier of Quincy; and cousins, Brent (Jeannie) Hermsmeier of Kansas City, Mo., Matt (Tristin) Hermsmeier of Quincy and Andy (Audrey) Hermsmeier of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Mr. Exton was employed as chief photographer at WCIA, communication manager at Illinois American Water Co., and was a sales agent with REMAX.
He was member of C-U Elks Lodge No. 2497 where he was Past Exalted Ruler and Chairman of Children Care Corp. He was also a member of C-U Bass Club and Champaign Kiwanis. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests memorials be given to Children Care Corp.
