BEMENT – M. Marlene (Bowyer) Johnson of Bement passed away at 11:25 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 1, 2013) at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ivesdale. The Rev. Joel Phelps will officiate. Deacon Jim Brewer will assist.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church in Ivesdale. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ivesdale.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Halcyon Unit at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello or the Kirby Medical Center.
Marlene was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Champaign, a daughter of Orville E. and Agnes Tynan Bowyer.
Surviving children include J.O. Johnson of Urbana, Jeff (Susan) Johnson of Canton, Mich., Jim (Cara) Johnson of Waldorf, Md., and Jan (Steve) Anderson of Carmel, Ind.
Surviving grandchildren include Theodore "Quint" J. (Sarah) Shambaugh V, Secily M. Shambaugh, Rob Johnson, Jennifer (Eric Ryder) Johnson, Brittany (David) (Johnson) Etter, Joshua Johnson, Matt Johnson, Barrett Johnson and Olivia Johnson, as well as a great-grandaughter, Austyn Bella Ryder. Also surviving is a sister, Jacqueline M. Fisher of Bement.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marlene was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, Bement, and the Bement American Legion Auxillary.
