CHAMPAIGN – On Nov. 28, 2013, at 5:30 a.m., the Lord said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant," and Cecil Lewis was called into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 94 years, in the presence of his loving and faithful daughter.
Cecil was born to the proud parents Lillian Wilkins-Lewis and Willie Lewis on May 3, 1919, in Ridgley, Tenn. In his young years, his family moved to Centralia. In 1946, Cecil moved to St. Louis, Mo., where he resided until 2008; at this time he moved to Champaign to live with his daughter, Linda Lewis.
Cecil was an avid bowler.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Cecil was preceded in death by both parents, Lillian Wilkins-Lewis (Estes) and Willie Lewis; wife, Helen Lewis; son, Keith Lewis; and nephew, William Kenneth Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Church of the Living God, 1109 N. Fourth St., Champaign. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiant will be Bishop Lloyd E. Gwin. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
