GIFFORD – Lillian Joan Heimburger, 73, of Gifford died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 19, 2014) at Heartland Nursing Home, Paxton.
Lillian was born July 15, 1940, in Niles, Mich., to Arnold and Lenora (Chaney) Cole. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Stella and Ira Edwards in Ludlow.
Lillian married Harry Delano Heimburger on Aug. 31, 1957, in Kokomo, Ind. He survives.
They had three children, Kenneth (Louise Busboom) Heimburger of Rantoul, Richard (Susie Koopman) of Gifford and Rhonda (Michael) Heimburger Thompson of Gifford. Lillian and Harry have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Larry (Marty) Cole of Wisconsin; and a sister, Pearl (Daniel) Etnyer of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, father and stepmother, her aunt and uncle who raised her and two great-grandchildren.
Lillian worked at Alloy Casting Engineering for 20 years then opened Jo's Hobby Ceramics in 1992 and ran it through 1999.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, going to the boat and watching birds. More than any of these, she has loved her family and will always be with us.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. The Rev. Barbara Busboom will officiate. Burial will follow in Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel.
