CLINTON – Deacon Steven R. Tamburini, 67, passed away 4:01 a.m. Thursday (April 20, 2017) at his family residence in Clinton.

Mass Of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Fr. James Henning celebrant; concelebrants, Fr. Robert Hoffman and Msg. Tim Nolan. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Farmer City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton. Rosary will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at the church. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmer City.

Steve was born Dec. 29, 1949, in Clinton, the son of Frank J. and Kathryn (Cray) Tamburini. He married Linda S. Munts on July 19, 1980, in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife, Linda S. Tamburini, Clinton; children, Ryan S. Tamburini of Hoopeston and Kathryn Lynn (Thomas) Joos of Chicago; brothers, Larry (Darlene) Tamburini of Normal and Mike (Dolly) Tamburini of LeRoy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Steve was a graduate of Clinton High School in 1969 and of Illinois State University, Normal. He retired in 2011 from Hospital Sisters Health System after 30 years. He had worked at various hospitals in central Illinois, including the Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton and St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, before working for Hospital Sisters Health Systems in Springfield. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Deacon in May 2012, serving the parishes of St. John The Baptist in Clinton, Sacred Heart in Farmer City and St. John the Evangelist in Mansfield. He enjoyed reading and watching Western movies.
