Ralph Corning

RANTOUL – Ralph Corning, 61, of Rantoul, formerly of Paxton, passed away on Tuesday afternoon (July 4, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. Burial of ashes will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul.

He was born Sept. 29, 1955, in Tucson, Ariz., a son of Ronald "Rick" and Carol (Evans) Corning.

He is survived by three children, Chris (Aisha) Corning of Reseda, Calif., Carol Corning of Champaign and Spencer (Alicia Hernandez) Corning of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Patrick Corning of Rantoul; two sisters, Vicki (Jack) Cole of Paxton and Sheri (Ted) Scott of Paxton; and a grandson, Eugene Corning of Reseda.

He leaves behind a dear friend, Eleanor Briere of Rantoul.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike and Steve.

Ralph was a 1973 graduate of Paxton High School. He served briefly in the U.S. Army. He was a delivery man for Schwann's for a number of years. He also worked as a custodian at the Clara Peterson Elementary School. He was a driver for numerous local businesses.

He had a special love for animals, especially Odie, his Jack Russell terrier. He loved cooking, listening to classical music, tending his plants and riding his motorcycle.
