GEORGETOWN – Elva Josephine "Josie" Robertson Kern, formerly of Olivet, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2017) at the Newman Rehabilitation Center in Newman.

Josie was born in Georgetown to Clarence and Nettie Robertson on Jan. 20, 1938. She went to Georgetown High School. She married Robert Dean Kern on July 30, 1993, in Olivet. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2003.

Josie was a homemaker and worked several years at Steel Grip in Danville. She was a member of the Olivet Nazarene Church.

Survivors include seven children, Rhonda (Randy) Berlin of Hume, Debra (Mark) Kincaid of Sidell, Eugene (Brenda) Galey of Parsons, Tenn., David (Diane) Galey of Winchester, Ind., Robert (Sharon) Galey of Ellabell, Ga., Anita Dorene (Mark) McCollum of Arthur and Jamie (Jeff) Jumps-Robertson of Hillsdale, Ind., and their father; six stepchildren, Gene (Julie) Kern of Paragould, Ariz., Richard Kern of Cleveland, Ohio, Wesley (Brenda) Kern of Shiloh, Teresa (Herb) Norton of Westville, Penny (Jeff) Davis of Dana, Ind., and Monte Kern of Dana, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 35 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-stepgrandson; and seven siblings, Mary Helen Reed of Danville, Harvey (Lynn) Robertson of Danville, Claude (Eileen) Robertson of Georgetown, Leo (Emily) Robertson of Coos Bay, Ore., Lawrence Robertson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Elsie Lorene Luce of Peachtree, Ga., and Herman (Hazel) Robertson of Manteca, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dean Kern; parents, Clarence (Nettie Kinney) Robertson; sister, Alberta Bardell; and a son-in-law, William Jumps.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Newman Rehabilitation Center for their support in her final days.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Georgetown Cemetery.
