RANTOUL – Larry DWayne Sweat was born on Oct. 4, 1961, in Dover Air Force Base Hospital, Dover, Del., to the union of William A. Sweat Sr. and Betty J. (Brent) Sweat; they survive.

Larry slipped into the Master's arms on Sunday (Dec. 3, 2017) at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Larry was a military brat and traveled with this parents during his father's career. When the family moved to Rantoul in 1971, Larry began grade school at Pleasant Acres, and graduated in 1979 from Rantoul Township High School.

In addition to store operations, he trained to become a market manager. He was instrumental in recruiting entry-level managers for the company.

When Osco merged with CVS is when Larry's medical problems surfaced. This was the beginning of a major medical condition which forced him to retire on disability.

During this time, he met and married, and to that union was born a daughter, Jordan Danielle Sweat. In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory a brother, William A. Sweat Jr. (Julie), and a sister, Debbra Sweat, both of Rantoul. Larry was also a former stepparent to two children, Andrea West and Chris McCollom.

He also leaves two nephews (Derek Burns and Cody Sweat) and a niece (Michelle Sweat) to remember him. He will also be remembered by a host of aunts (Naomi Witherspoon, Olivia Brown, Emmalee Brent, Daisy Hall and E. Vernette Koonce), cousins, grandnephews and a grandniece.

Also sharing in his loss are his childhood friends known as CBS&J (Keith Cheek, Ed Brown, Larry Sweat and Perry Johnson) and Lori Jones, who knew Larry from childhood at Scott AFB, Belleville. Who knew they would reunite in Rantoul years later.

Larry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents (Harry and Sallie Sweat), maternal grandparents (Leon and Emma Brent) and uncles (Floyd Sweat, Robert Sweat and Marvin Brent).
