Norman Carlson

CHAMPAIGN – Norman Carlson, longtime resident of Illinois, has returned home after passing peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 9, 2018. He joins his wife of 62 years, Carol Virginia Carlson, who passed before him.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Peter) Alagna of Bowling Green, Ky., and his son, Michael (Bonnie) Carlson, of Pendleton, Ind., long with six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carlson retired from the Post Office and Brookhill Golf Course. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul. His hobbies included golf, bowling and gardening.

He was a longtime member of American Legion 24 in Urbana.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made directly to Brookhill Golf Course, Rantoul.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. Visitation will be held prior from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Champaign.
