HOOPESTON – Leonard Eugene Fleenor, 77, of Hoopeston passed away at 8:19 p.m. Friday (Feb. 9, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Mr. Fleenor was born Sept. 16, 1940, in Hoopeston, the son of Roscoe and Margaret (Byerly) Fleenor.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kerley) Fleenor; sister, Viola Longfellow of Hoopeston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Brandenburg; and brothers-in-law, Glenn Brandenburg and Robert Longfellow.

Leonard graduated from Hoopeston High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. After serving in the military, he returned to Hoopeston and worked at FMC as a machinist.

Leonard enjoyed having fun and spending time with friends. His family meant everything to him, and he enjoyed spending time with his sister's families.

A celebration of Leonard's life will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, Hoopeston, with Pastor Tom Cici officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hoopeston American Legion Post 384.

Mr. Fleenor will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Hoopeston American Legion Post 384. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Leonard's life.
