Kathleen Long

CAMARGO – Kathleen Long, 64, of Tuscola passed Dec. 30, 2017, at Carle Hospital after a fall.

Kathy was born June 13, 1953, in Mattoon, to Martha Ellen (Tanner) and John H Long.

Kathy is survived by two daughters, Siri (Sam) McLeod of Grass Valley, Calif., and Lindsey Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters, Clementine and Juniper McLeod; two sisters, Pam (Dean) Sigler of Camargo and Laura Long of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Tom Long of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two stepsisters, Connie Hinchliffe of Nashua, N.H., and Pat Wagner of Overland Park, Kan.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Kathy was a graduate of Villa Grove High School class of 1971. Upon graduation, Kathy began working for Kraft Foods and later Christie Clinic before relocating to California where she worked for an engineering firm. After marrying, Kathy lived overseas for several years in Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Seoul, South Korea.

Kathy loved music and began playing the guitar and drums. She played several years in a country rock band with her dad, cousin, Denny Long, and Larry Taylor of Oakland.

Kathy was very competitive and strived to be the best at whatever sport she tried. She competed with a compound bow, winning a national title and went on to compete internationally, placing third. Kathy also loved playing tennis and was a certified tennis instructor. She enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears and Bulls on TV.

A celebration of life memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Camargo United Methodist Church.
