Trulie Fletcher

SIDNEY – Trulie Fletcher, 88, of Sidney, formerly Louisville, Ky., died peacefully at 11:20 p.m. Saturday (April 14, 2018) at Carle Hospital with her daughter by her side.

She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Edmonson County, Ky., to Odie and Ethel James Vincent. She married Beuford Paul Fletcher in 1946.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayla Sargent (Marshall); son-in-law, John Marshall of Sidney; and numerous loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Boswell; and brother, Gerald Vincent.

Trulie worked for Roi-Tan Cigar Company, Dispensers Optical Company and was also a homemaker. She was very involved in Eastern Star and became a Worthy Matron. She was made a Kentucky Colonel for her civic activities. Trulie was a loyal Kentucky Wildcat fan and also enjoyed the Kentucky Derby. She was a gentle southern lady and greeted everyone with a warm, sincere smile.

She moved to Illinois in 2013 to be with her daughter and son-in-law, where she made lasting friendships due to her genuine affection and concern for others. Her last two years were spent at Country Health in Gifford, where she made many friends. She clearly enjoyed visitors and we appreciate all those who came to see her.

We thank her family, friends, caretakers, CNAs, nurses and doctors for their excellent care.

An Illinois visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, followed by a memorial service at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph.

Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation, Shriner's Hospitals for Children or the charity of your choice.
