DANVILLE — Paul Michael Monson, 71, of Danville passed away Friday (July 13, 2018) at VA Illiana Health Care.

He was born March 4, 1947, in Plaquemine, La., to Paul A. and Juanita (Dora) Monson.

He is survived by three children, Michelle Monson-Clark of Riverton, John Monson of Bismarck and Kim Hughes of Rossville; four brothers, Tony (Barb) Monson, Pat (Lisa) Monson, Andy (Marianne) Monson and Mark (Ellen) Monson; nine grandchildren, Drew Oreskovich, Alex Monson, Tyler Hughes, Tori Arlington, Lexi Clark, Colton Hughes, Jacob Clark, Tanner Monson and Kailynn Monson; and great-grandson, Ethan Monson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Paul served his country during the Vietnam War era in the United States Air Force. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post 210 in Danville. Paul retired from Krupp-Gerlach in Danville. He loved fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals and dancing. He also enjoyed playing poker and his euchre nights at the K of C Hall.

A service to celebrate the life of Paul Monson will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Pastor Parker Boothe will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the services, also at Sunset in Danville. Cremation rites will follow. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in Danville National Cemetery, where American Legion Post 210 will perform military honors.
