CHAMPAIGN — Robert “Bob” Carl Murdock, 82, of Champaign passed away Friday (Sept. 14, 2018) at home.

A visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m. The Rev. Debra Joy Hart will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Bob was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Urbana, to parents Maude E. (Schonert) Stuart and Robert S. Murdock; they preceded him death.

Survivors include two sons, Robert “Rob” Murdock (Catherine Novak) of Urbana and Michael Murdock (Susan) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Betty Schmall of Mahomet; three grandchildren, Rob Murdock (Allie), Kate Murdock and Justin Novak; and one-month-old great-grandson, Owen.

Mr. Murdock graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering before serving in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged. He retired from the UI Operations and Maintenance Division as chief electrical engineer after a career spanning more than 30 years.

Bob had many interests, including genealogy, model railroading, puzzles (such as the Rubiks Cube) and Champaign history. He was also an active participant in Minds in Motion, a local program for seniors.
