URBANA — Perla Judith Robertson, 42, of Urbana passed away Sunday (Nov. 4, 2018) in Urbana.

Perla Judith Robertson was born June 26, 1976, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, to Eduardo N. Brown and Perla del Rosario Maldonado. She and her parents moved to West Mifflin, Pa., in 1977 and subsequently to Bisbee, Ariz. It was here that she completed her elementary education and graduated with high honors from the eighth grade. Her educational journey led her to Thunderbird Adventist Academy, where she completed her high school education.

She developed a keen interest in music and business administration and enrolled in Walla Walla College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and music. It was while at Walla Walla that she spent one year at Sagunto Adventist College in Spain to study Spanish. In 1998, she graduated from Walla Walla College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and music. Wanting to further advance her musical education, she completed a master’s degree program in music at the University of Illinois and was enrolled in a master’s degree program in music education at the same university at the time of her death.

Perla Robertson was an accomplished pianist and vocal soloist. She was a member of The Baroque Artists of Champaign Urbana, a music teacher and accompanist at Centennial High School and a weekly soloist at the Christian Science church of Champaign. She also appeared on Three Angels Broadcasting Network in several solo performances.

Perla Robertson married Richard Robertson on May 21, 2004, in Urbana. She is survived by her husband, Richard Robertson; children, Nibaw, Roxxy, Darby and Kuyani Robertson; brother, SFC Eduardo Alejandro Brown; parents, Eduardo Brown and Perla Brown; and many close friends and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1203 W. Green St., Urbana. Burial will be in Clements Cemetery, Urbana.
