OAKWOOD — Cuba K. Poulson, 56, of Oakwood passed away at 7:10 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 10, 2019) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Cuba was born Aug. 24, 1962, in Danville, to Gordon and Barbara Ann Carrigan Smith. She married Monty Poulson on Oct. 14, 1983, in Danville. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Levi Charles (Jessica) Poulson of Oakwood; one daughter, Lacey Ann (Brandon) Zaayer of Westville; one brother, Charles K. (Cindy) Smith of Danville; one foster brother, Richard (Laura) Donaldson of Texas; one sister, Carla Kay (Cheryl Girton) Smith of Oakwood; and five grandchildren, Daylin Jade Zaayer, Denim Jet Zaayer, Dottie Jacks Zaayer, Riley Faith Poulson and Hadley Grace Poulson.

Cuba was a personal aide at Salt Fork High School where she dealt with special needs children and had a profound great impact on them. She was a member of Morey Chapel Church of Christ. She enjoyed her grandkids and family, softball, family events at her home, boat rides, golf cart rides, the Fourth of July, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, horseback riding and camping. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Pastor James Blue Officiating. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
