CHARLESTON – The world-class Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps will perform during an open rehearsal from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Charleston.
The event will showcase what the corps has accomplished during its annual 11-day camp at Eastern Illinois University.
The event, free and open to the public, will be at O'Brien Stadium.
For their 60th anniversary season, the Cavaliers, the 2006 Drum Corps International champions, will present "Samurai," a program that celebrates the ancient Japanese warriors' culture of honor, courage and discipline.
Featuring original music and complex choreography, the show interprets the Samurai's heroic history in four dramatic movements: "Bushido, The Way of the Warrior"; "Ronin, Masterless Samurai"; "Ken-jutsu, The Art of the Sword"; and "Fumeiyo yori shi wo, Death Before Dishonor."
The all-male Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, with most members in high school and college, is based in Rosemont.
The group's 2008 tour from June 21 through Aug. 10 will include more than 50 performances in 17 states and Washington, D.C.
