CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign man's blood has been used to link him to two residential burglaries in northwest Champaign that occurred last fall.

Champaign County sheriff's investigator Andrew Good said on Thursday he informed Antwan Foster, 30, of the 0-100 block of Hedge Court, that he was going to be charged with two counts of residential burglary. Foster was already in custody at the county jail for a Jan. 3 burglary that occurred in Champaign.

Good said Foster is accused of breaking in to two homes in the 2200 and the 2500 blocks of Dale Drive during the day Nov. 23.

In both cases, the homes were forcibly entered and the intruder was cut, leaving behind blood. Household items such as televisions, game consoles and other electronics were stolen.

Good said that blood was sent to the Illinois State Police crime lab and found to match DNA already in the system from Foster.

Foster appeared Friday on the new charges, which carry a mandatory prison term of between four and 15 years upon conviction. Bond on the new cases was set at $10,000 and he was told to be back in court Feb. 7.
