Obesity is a major public health threat

Now that the American Medical Association (AMA) has classified obesity as a disease, perhaps we can finally wipe out this all-too-prevalent scourge that is killing people faster that alcohol abuse and smoking.

At the very least, we need to tax sugary foods and beverages and over-processed carbohydrates, then use the money for treatment on demand.

My dear brother died from obesity, and it is a death that feels so wrong. He wanted to eat more than he wanted to stay alive and be healthy. The sheer weight of the fat presses down on the organs of the obese and can cause great difficulty in breathing, which along with other complications can cause death, as happened to my beloved brother.

Don't let this happen to you. Seek medical advice, go to Overeaters Anonymous, learn to eat healthy and exercise daily. It is a way of life with more rewards than excess food can give.
